BIW Counseling RESPSONSE TO Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic
With intensifying risks surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, telemental health has become a way to ensure the health of clients and providers, especially the most vulnerable. COVID-19 has changed our individual and collective lives. As a result, I will temporarily be changing the way I work with you so I can promote physical distancing that helps protect all of us. What will not change is my commitment to you.
Distance Therapy also known as telemental health, is the use of technology to meet therapeutic needs of clients in a location different from the mental health professional. My office will be using Therapy Appointment, a flexible solution that offers HIPAA compliant software using high quality video and real time conferencing with clients. Therapy Appointment can be accessed through multiple devices, including PC, Mac and Android.
Please email or call 314-380-3131 if you would like to schedule an appointment or a free 15-minute phone consultation.
Telemental health has both benefits and risks, which you and the therapist will be monitoring as you go. It is possible that receiving services virtually may turn out not to be right for you and your therapist may have to stop work in this way. You can also stop telemental health at anytime.
To participate, you will need access to:
High speed internet for use on PC’s, Macs and smart phones
The ability to create appropriate private space for your virtual counseling sessions
Participate in a plan to manage technology failures, mental health crisis, and medical emergencies
Participate in maintaining your own security and privacy during sessions
